UMAMA

The UMass Aquatic Masters (UMAMA)
aims to provide a structured swimming training program for adult swimmers in the greater UMass/Amherst community. We aim to improve mechanics, technique, and conditioning through organized and regular practice sessions. Practices will combine stroke work and conditioning to result in improved swimming ability. Some lap swimming experience is required but a competitive background is not expected.
Coach Russ Yarworth has been the Head Men's Coach at UMass for 26 years and is a six time Atlantic 10 Coach-of-the-Year. His team has won the Atlantic 10 team championship 7 times. He is also a current New England Masters Swimming Age Group record holder. Yarworth is an expert in conditioning and mechanics.
Coach Bob Newcomb has been Head Women's Coach at UMass for 19 years. He has won multiple Coach-of-the-Year Awards. The UMass women were the 2001 Atlantic 10 team champions. He is a specialist in stroke drills and training techniques.
